If you’re planning to travel the world, there are some things you’ll need to consider. For starters, don’t let yourself get sick, and make sure you have a bucket list so you don’t get caught in a rut. You can also try to avoid overpriced restaurants. And finally, be courteous to strangers.
Avoid overpriced restaurants
Assuming you have decided to spend some quality time in Dubai, you’ll be surprised to learn that you have a plethora of choices in the food and beverage department. A little research will ensure that you eat your dinner without breaking the bank. One of the more mundane tasks is sifting through the dozens of restaurants in the airport’s food court. The best bet may well be one of the handful of establishments that you’re willing to leave with. Thankfully, most are well stocked and well catered to. With a couple of stipulations, you’re all but assured of a tasty meal.
Avoid getting sick
If you are going to be traveling, you want to make sure that you do not get sick. It can be a real hassle and you do not want to feel miserable when you are on your trip. There are a number of ways you can prevent getting sick while you are traveling.
One of the easiest ways to prevent sickness while traveling is by washing your hands. You should always wash your hands after using the toilet or after touching your face. Using hand sanitizer is also recommended.
Another way to avoid getting sick while you are traveling is to drink plenty of water. Drinking lots of water helps to prevent dehydration and stomach upset.
In addition to drinking plenty of water, you should also eat food that is fresh. Food that is raw or cold can lead to diarrhea. Eating food that is more rich can upset your stomach.
Also, stay active while you are traveling. Physical activity will help to boost your immune system. When you are a traveler, you are likely to spend a lot of time sitting in a car or on a plane. This can lead to lack of sleep and physical stress, which can increase your risk of getting sick.
Staying on top of your vaccinations is also important. Check with your local health clinic to find out if you need to be vaccinated before you leave. Make an appointment for a vaccination at least 6 to 8 weeks before you leave.
Getting a flu shot is another important way to keep yourself healthy while you are traveling. The CDC recommends that people ages 6 months and older get a flu shot before they travel.
Accept the kindness of strangers
While traveling overseas, I have made some unexpected and delightful discoveries. One of the more interesting was a woman who took a shine to me and helped me figure out how to navigate the local subway system. Another was an acquaintance who provided a quick and courteous lift when I couldn’t find the subway stop on my own. Yet another was an old lady who was just curious about my trip but never asked for anything. These are the kind of people who make my trip that much better. They may not be perfect specimens of humanity, but they are good for a laugh. Fortunately for me, they were also willing to help out with my suitcase.
It’s easy to get tangled up in the minutiae of planning a trip abroad. It’s a good idea to take a cue from locals to avoid the pitfalls. For instance, don’t drink the local water supply. Similarly, don’t expect to be served the best dinner in town. Take the time to ask a local where the best place to grab dinner is. Likewise, don’t rely on the touristy hotels for shelter, or worse, a bathroom. By allowing yourself to get a little out of your comfort zone, you can enjoy a more rewarding experience.
This was an inspiring feat of human kindness and it’s one that I intend to continue. The book is a good introduction to the wonders of travel and it’s a wonderful reminder of the beauty of the world we live in. Seeing is believing, but I’m a firm believer that the right attitude is the key to a lifetime of happy memories. To me, a happy traveler is a happy world travel.
Create a bucket list
You can create a bucket list to travel the world in a variety of ways. Some people use a paper journal, others may use Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, and some choose to share their lists with friends and family. Regardless of how you plan to do it, a bucket list is a great way to celebrate your life and live without regrets.
To start, think about the reasons you want to travel. Are you looking for a life-affirming experience or are you seeking a fun activity? The most important thing to remember is to create a list of things that are both realistic and attainable.
Once you’ve narrowed down your list to a manageable number, you can start brainstorming for ideas. This is the part of the process that is most fun. Think about movies you’ve seen, television shows you’ve watched, and read travel blogs to find inspiration.
Start a bucket list with at least ten items. If you’re able to think of more, don’t be afraid to add more. Don’t be afraid to get out of your comfort zone when it comes to making your bucket list.
When you’re ready to start putting your bucket list to action, be sure to make a deadline. Not only will this help you keep your commitment, but it will also force you to take action.
Once you’ve completed your list, you can print it out and stick it to your refrigerator. Or, if you prefer, you can post it on social media and let everyone know where you’ve gone. Creating a bucket list is an enjoyable way to spend time with friends and family, so don’t be afraid to do it.
