Fort Bend Independent School District (FBISD) covers portions of Sugar Land, Meadows Place, the Fort Bend County portion of Missouri City as well as Clodine Four Corners Juliff Fresno unincorporated communities.
Skyward FBISD boasts many outstanding high schools and colleges, many of which have earned Exemplary or Recognized recognition by the Texas Education Agency.
About FBISD
As part of its bicentennial celebrations, portions of Stafford voted to leave FBISD and form the new Stafford Municipal School District (SMSD), leading to one of the fiercest educational battles ever fought in Texas history.
The FBISD inDIstructibles team will compete at the Destination Imagination Global Finals tournament in Kansas City next month. Destination Imagination (DI) is an international educational program that fosters creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and innovation through open-ended academic challenges that span STEM, fine arts, service learning and beyond. Managed by Kamal Thota and Tejas Mehta, their success can be credited to hardworking children as well as dedicated teachers across their district – something they’ve accomplished twice at regionals this year alone. Their success speaks volumes for their hardwork as much as any one of their competitors would!
Academics
Students in our district are actively encouraged to challenge themselves academically in a variety of ways. We believe in providing educational experiences that develop both cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and academic abilities in children of all ages.
At each level of education in our district schools, innovative programming options are offered to all. High schoolers have access to Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs which combine high school coursework with college classes for an associate degree or 60 hours of tuition-free college credit while still earning their diplomas.
Sugar Land Middle School’s inDIstructibles team have qualified for Destination Imagination’s Global Finals tournament in Kansas this May. DI is an international academic competition designed to foster creativity and problem-solving while covering STEM, fine arts and service learning disciplines.
Athletics
FBISD Athletics seeks to educate student athletes with responsibility, values, sportsmanship and teamwork through high school sports participation so that they may realize futures far beyond what is possible today.
All students wishing to participate in any sport must obtain a physician-stamped physical, complete a medical history form, and submit all electronic forms annually.
FBISD provides its athletic programs with access to Hopson Field House, Hall Stadium, Mercer Stadium and Wheeler Field House for their respective sports programs. Furthermore, several high schools feature gyms or tennis courts specifically dedicated to hosting athletic teams.
The District utilizes the National Federation of High School Sports Network, an on-demand streaming service for high school sports fans that allows them to watch events live or on demand from computers, tablets or phones. Fine Arts
FBISD students have the opportunity to participate in various musical and visual arts courses. Arts participation encourages collaboration, cooperation, communication and teamwork while teaching leadership, responsibility and critical thinking skills.
Performing arts courses foster creativity, self-expression, and the creation of character development. Furthermore, performing arts classes facilitate social-emotional learning as they foster creativity, self-esteem and interpersonal communication skills development.
Visual arts classes encourage student exploration of art history and appreciation with hands-on approaches to learning. Students gain a deeper insight into art practices while cultivating Studio Habits of Mind.
Fort Bend ISD was recognized in 2021 and 2021 as one of the nation’s Best Communities for Music Education due to its support of music education in schools. Studies demonstrate the positive outcomes associated with musical learning on academic/cognitive achievement, social-emotional wellbeing and life-long learning.
Technology
FBISD offers advanced technologies for students, teachers and staff at its campus in Florence. Additionally, they host professional development events.
Career & Technical Education (CTE) allows students to explore many industries, such as engineering and culinary arts. Students who complete CTE studies are eligible for high school graduation endorsements as well as industry-recognized certificates in recognition of their studies.
The FBISD inDisructibles team is gearing up for their international competition at Destination Imagination’s Global Finals Tournament of Destination Imagination (DI), where teams solve open-ended academic challenges within limited amounts of time and present their findings before judges from industry professionals. Managed by Kamal Thota and Tejas Mehta who strive to foster creativity among children through DI; this year their state competition team placed second!
